Workout: Chatting With Jesse

Wow first Brian, then Rebecca and now Jesse has drop by the blog to chat with us. Welcome to Bravissimo Jesse!

Us: Tell us a bit about yourself.
Jesse: Um, let's see... I'm 27, born on June 19, 1980- which puts me on the cusp of Gemini and Cancer. I am originally from Seattle, WA and am the middle child of three (though, it should be noted I now have a baby brother who is 5). I am very close to my family and I speak to my Grandma Jean at least once a week.

I have an endless love for my best friend Jasmine and my dog Sammy. My celebrity favorites are Oprah, Martha Stewart, and Mariah Carey (if that doesn't make me QUITE gay then I don't know what does). I love cooking for my friends and family- I think that is a result of having a Southern mother who always cooks for everyone.

Um, I could go on and on... but let's see what your questions have in store and I will give you more if I feel like we haven't covered all the bases!

Us:Why did you decide to become a trainer?
Jesse: Became a trainer when I enrolled in culinary school- simply because I didn't want to gain a TON of weight!

Us: Were you working at SkySport&Spa when Bravo came calling?
Jesse: No- I was a new hire... I was actually the only trainer hired ON-camera.

Bravissimo Does Brian Peeler

OK, we didn't "do" him, but damn, we would if we could!

Brillke (the lucky biatch), did a telephone interview with the sexy Brian Peeler from Work Out.

Remembering Doug

Tonight's finale of Work Out was largely a beautiful tribute to Doug. At the start of the show, the trainers reminisced about Doug and honored him on the beach.

I will always remember Doug's beautiful blue eyes and gentle smile and gentle way with people. Brian’s story about the hummingbird and relating it to his memory of Doug was truly touching. When next I see a hummingbird, I will think of this handsome trainer, who considered himself the daddy or big brother of the show. Here's a link to singer Jody Whatley's touching tribute to Doug. She worked out with him briefly. Click here and scroll down to the third post or so.

Jesse summed Doug up best: "He lived his life with his heart. He was caring, and giving, and beautiful."

Do you have a favorite memory of Doug on the show you’d like to share with us? I can think of no better way to honor him.

Workout: Large and In Charge

How do you leave your business to a lovable, yet big headed oaf when you're sleeping with another of your employee's?...Very carefully. Really though, what does that say about your relationship? You like her but you can't trust her with the most important thing in your life. Hmmm....If I was Rebecca...I would start reveiwing my relationship....

And I have to say, last season I was NOT a Peeler fan. But he's definately growing on me and my guess is that he's good at his job if not anything else....Let's see what Marius has to say about the Workout Boys...Marius....

There's something ...

Please don't tell me it's the gel.

Workout: You Better Shop Around

So, last night Jackie took her SkyLabbers (sounds like a room of flying dogs) grocery shopping. And while I would like to say that in concept this was a great idea, I was waiting for Jackie to...shop! She should have let them come along while she shopped for herself so they could see what kind of things she takes home. Personally, I would have been thinking to myself "Skinny b!%@#, probably stops in the ice cream aisle when she's alone."

But really, last night episode had it all: tears, laughter, hissy fits and a little Pitt-Jolie action...To find out more stop by my friend Marius' blog for a deeper look into Jesse's attitude and Erika's inner persona.

Doug Blasdell

For me the main attraction for watching Workout was Doug Blasdell. I loved his smile and beautiful eyes. He was a gentle man, fit and masculine, and comfortable with being gay. In an AfterElton.com interview he discusses his reasons for participating in Workout:
"When I took the job here's what was most important to me: to portray a gay man as a healthy guy who is somewhat good looking and normal. Not over the top gay," Blasdell told AfterElton.com. "That's important because Hollywood doesn't show that a lot... I want to portray a real gay man for those people in Nebraska that are afraid to come out."

Blasdell said by appearing on Work Out, he also hoped to "show that you can be in your 40's and still have a good body and have a healthy lifestyle."

"I know a lot of 40-year-olds let their body's go. You can have great abs and be forty-three. You just have to work out two or three days a week," he told AfterElton.com. "And I saw it as an opportunity to be a role model."

Now that Doug is gone, I am having difficulty watching the show. I'm sure that over time I'll become accustomed to his absence, but the show just doesn't seem the same without him. If you want to read Doug’s entire interview, click on the next link: Reality TV World, January 24, 2007

Jesse Brune’s blog on Outzone provides a touching tribute. Jesse gave Doug a rough time earlier this season, and I began to resent him for making Doug’s life difficult when he had so little time left. This heartfelt tribute makes up for some of Jesse’s immature and narcissistic behavior. Click here to read it.

Information about Douglas Blasdell’s Outreach Program can be found on another post on this site. Click here to find out how you can contribute.

Workout: What's Good for the Ego!

Do you think Jackie saw this exchange for the first time on the show last night and had a little internal shout of joy? It must be nice to be adored by men and women alike. I personally think that Jesse and Rebecca should go 12 rounds in the ring...I mean Rebecca's really fit and Jesse's a little flabby...I think she could take him. Winner gets Jackie...of course then they'll have to deal with Tiffany!

Workout: Talk About Tension

Did anyone else hope that Rebecca would stab Tiffany with her chopsticks last night? Not that I'm choosing one girlfriend over the other...but all I was thinking was Jesse left too soon! Question... if Tiffany hadn't shown up would Rebecca have gotten the invite back to Jackie's?

Anyway, if you love trying to read into what's really going on in this "Jackie-Tug-of-War" as much as I do, checkout Jackie's myspace page where both Rebecca and Tiffany are listed as "friends" and love to leave comments for Jackie...you try to figure out where she spent her last date night!*wink*
